Nigeria retired President Olusegun Obasanjo has hailed President United Republic of Tanzania Dr. John Pombe Magufuli for being exemplary leader in Africa in spearheading the country’s economic development and safeguarding national interests.
Mr. Obasanjo, one of the prominent African leaders, made those remarks today when he paid a courtesy call to President Magufuli at the state house.
Mr. Obasanjo lauded President Magufuli’s efforts to attract investors from all corners of the world and praised his determination and desire to make sure the country is adequately benefiting from those investments.
“President Magufuli’s efforts to make sure foreign investments benefiting the country is a crucial one and should be emulated by other African leaders because it is the only way that the continent can make economic headway” said Mr. Obasanjo.
According to the statement from state house signed by the Director of Presidential Communications, Mr. Gerson Msigwa quoted former president of Nigeria saying that he was impressed by the state of the economy Tanzania’s which he said it is on “the right track”.
“I have visited various countries including Mozambique, Malawi and now I am in Tanzania. In all those countries, my discussions are focused on economic development and most importantly how our countries can sufficiently benefit from investments in various areas of the economy” Mr. Obasanjo noted.
He added that Africa can no longer afford to let foreign investors rip off the continent resources and left African with very little to share.
